The Shakshuka with Weekend Leftovers (like salami, cheese, olives and more) and The Spice Club Shakshuka is a versatile and budget-friendly recipe that brilliantly repurposes leftovers to create a delicious and filling meal.

  • Your weekend leftovers
  • 1 Onion
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 1 bell pepper (or another vegetable of your choice)
  • 1 chili pepper (optional)
  • 800 gr Canned tomatoes
  • 4 eggs
  • 75 gr grated cheese (optional)
  • Fresh Coriander or Parsley (for garnish)
  • 2 tbsp The Spice Club Shakshuka ·PURCHASE🛍️
  • The Spice Club Topping (Optional for garnish) ·PURCHASE🛍️
  • Crispy bread, pita or a side salad (optional, for serving)

STEP 1: Prepare the Vegetables and Optional Meat (Optional)

  • Finely chop the onion, garlic and pepper.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion, pepper (and meat if you wish to add it) and cook for about 5-7 minutes, until the vegetables start to soften.

STEP 2: Add Garlic and Any Additional Ingredients

  • Add the minced garlic (and weekend leftovers such as olives) and cook for another 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
  • Stir in the tomatoes and THE SPICE CLUB SHAKSHUKA.
  • Simmer the sauce for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens.

STEP 3: Poach the Eggs (and Add Cheese, If Desired)

  • Make four small wells in the sauce and carefully break an egg into each well.
  • Also add cheese if desired at this time.
  • Cover the skillet and cook over low heat for about 5-8 minutes, or until the egg whites are cooked but the yolks are still slightly runny.

STEP 4: Garnish and Serve

  • Garnish the shakshuka, freshly chopped coriander or parsley and THE SPICE CLUB TOPPING.
  • If desired, serve with crusty bread, pita or a side dish of salad to create a balanced meal.
