Make a delicious Easy Chana Masala with chickpeas, tomatoes and Garam Masala. A tasteful, spicy vegetarian curry, perfect for a fast and healthy meal.

ingredients

4 people

  • 1 el plantaardige olie of olijfolie
  • 1 ui, fijngehakt
  • 2 tl The Spice Club Garam Masala
  • 4 teentjes knoflook, geperst
  • 5 cm verse gember, geschild en geraspt
  • 2 rode pepers, zeer fijngehakt
  • 20g verse koriander, fijngehakt (bewaar wat voor garnering)
  • 400g blik kikkererwten, uitgelekt
  • 2 x 400g blik gehakte tomaten
  • 1–3 tl kristalsuiker, naar smaak (optioneel)
  • 1–2 el citroensap, naar smaak

preparation

Step 1: Fry the onion and herbs

  • Verhit de olie in een grote pan op middelhoog vuur. Voeg de fijngehakte ui toe en bak deze 5 minuten tot ze zacht en licht goudbruin is.
  • Voeg de geperste knoflook, geraspte gember, fijngehakte rode pepers en garam masala toe. Roer alles goed door en bak 2-3 minuten, zodat de kruiden hun aroma’s vrijgeven.

Step 2: Add the chickpeas and tomatoes

  • Voeg de uitgelekte kikkererwten en gehakte tomaten toe aan de pan. Roer goed door en breng alles aan de kook.

Step 3: simmering and seasoning

  • Zet het vuur laag en laat de chana masala 20 minuten zachtjes sudderen. Roer af en toe door en voeg naar smaak suiker en citroensap toe. Dit helpt om de zoetzure balans van het gerecht te optimaliseren.

Step 4: Serve and garnish

  • Roer de fijngehakte koriander door de chana masala. Breng op smaak met peper en zout.
  • Serveer de chana masala in kommen en garneer met wat extra korianderblaadjes.
