Spicy Mediterranean Meatballs


Try these tasty Lamb Meatballs with a spicy Moroccan twist. Easy to make, perfect for an easy & healthy weeknight meal.


4 persons

  • 500 g (lamb) minced meat
  • 1 onion
  • 1 chili pepper
  • 1 vegetable (e.g. zucchini)
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 200g Rice
  • 1 block (400ml) Diced tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons THE SPICE CLUB MAROC spice mix
  • Olive oil
  • Sliced ​​spring onions
  • THE SPICE CLUB TOPPING (optional for garnish)


STEP 1: Prepare vegetables and garlic

  • Start by chopping 1 onion, 1 chili pepper and 1 vegetable of your choice (e.g. zucchini).
  • Crush 3 cloves of garlic. This gives flavor to the dish.

STEP 2: Cook Rice (Optional)

  • If you prefer, you can cook rice according to the package instructions to serve as a side dish. Set it aside when it's done.

STEP 3: Make the minced meat mixture

  • In a bowl, mix 500 g (lamb) minced meat with the finely chopped garlic, chili pepper, onion and 2 teaspoons of THE SPICE CLUB MAROC spice mix.
  • Make sure all ingredients are well mixed. The meat mixture forms the basis of the meatballs.

STEP 4: Forming Meatballs

  • Take small amounts of the minced meat mixture and form small balls, about 2-3 cm in diameter. These are the meatballs.

STEP 5: Bake meatballs

  • Heat a little olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
  • Add the meatballs to the pan and cook for about 5-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through on all sides. The meatballs get a delicious taste.

STEP 6: Add vegetables

  • Add the chopped vegetables (e.g. zucchini) to the pan with the meatballs. Fry these vegetables for about 5 minutes on low to medium heat. This gives the vegetables a nice taste.

STEP 7: Tomatoes and Sauce

  • Add the tomatoes to the pan with the meatballs and vegetables. Let the sauce thicken a little, this will take about 5-10 minutes. This gives you a flavorful tomato sauce that goes perfectly with the meatballs.

STEP 8: Serve

  • Once you have cooked rice, you can now serve it alongside the meatballs.
  • Sprinkle each portion with sliced ​​spring onions and a little THE SPICE CLUB TOPPING to complete the dish.
