Spicy Shakshuka with Chorizo


This is the ideal choice for a weekend brunch, a quick weeknight meal or a filling lunch. Easy to prepare and full of rich flavors, this spicy chorizo ​​shakshuka is sure to become a favorite in your kitchen.


4 persons

  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 red pepper, finely chopped
  • 100 grams of chorizo, cut into small pieces
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons THE SPICE CLUB SHAKSHUKA spice mixture
  • 1 can (400 grams) crushed tomatoes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 eggs
  • Optional: grated cheese of your choice
  • Fresh coriander or parsley, for garnish
  • Crispy bread, pita or a side salad (optional, for serving)


STEP 1: Prepare the Vegetables and Chorizo

  • Chop the onion, garlic, chorizo ​​and pepper into small pieces.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion, pepper and chorizo ​​and fry for about 5-7 minutes, until the vegetables start to soften and the chorizo ​​is brown.

STEP 2: Add Spices and Fry

  • Add the minced garlic and THE SPICE CLUB SHAKSHUKA and fry for another 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
  • Stir in the tomatoes.
  • Simmer the sauce for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens.

STEP 3: Poach the Eggs (and Add Cheese, If Desired)

  • Make four small wells in the sauce and carefully break an egg into each well.
  • Add cheese if desired.
  • Cover the skillet and cook over low heat for about 8-15 minutes, or until the whites are set but the yolks are still slightly runny.

STEP 4: Garnish and Serve

  • Garnish the shakshuka with fresh coriander or parsley and THE SPICE CLUB TOPPING.
  • If desired, serve with crusty bread, pita or a side salad for a balanced meal.
