Tasty Chicken with Broccoli from the oven


Enjoy a creamy casserole with chicken, broccoli and rice. A simple recipe and perfect for a weeknight meal. Fry the chicken, make a creamy sauce, mix with broccoli and rice, sprinkle with cheese and bake in the oven. Enjoy your meal!

  • 400 g chicken fillet or chicken thighs
  • 300 g broccoli
  • 200g rice
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 125 ml crème fraîche (light)
  • 40 g grated cheese
  • 25 g breadcrumbs
  • 4 tsp The Spice Club Chicken (chicken spice mix)


Step 1: Preparation

  • Cook the rice according to the instructions on the package until done. Then drain.
  • Cut the broccoli into small florets and cook them in boiling water for about 8 minutes until al dente. Then let them drain.
  • Preheat the oven to 200°C.

Step 2: Prepare chicken

  • Cut the chicken fillet or chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces.
  • Heat half the butter in a pan over medium heat. Fry the chicken pieces until golden brown and done. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.

Step 3: Make sauce

  • Melt the rest of the butter in the same pan.
  • Add the flour and stir well until you have a smooth mixture, this is called a roux.
  • Then add 250 ml of water little by little while continuing to stir with a whisk until a smooth sauce is formed.
  • Add The Spice Club Chicken herbs and season with salt and pepper.

Step 4: Finish the sauce

  • Add the crème fraîche and mustard to the sauce. Stir well until everything is well mixed.
  • Add the fried chicken pieces back to the sauce. Stir everything together well.

Step 5: Make a casserole

  • Mix the cooked rice and broccoli in an oven dish.
  • Spoon the chicken and sauce mixture over the rice and broccoli in the baking dish.

Step 6: Cheese layer

  • Mix the grated cheese and breadcrumbs and sprinkle evenly over the casserole.

Step 7: Baking in the oven

  • Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is golden brown and crispy and the dish is heated through.
  • Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
